(SOCIAL LIFE) 👥: ANNE MARIE BEFOUNE, A (FREELANCE TRANSLATOR) POINTS OUT REASONS ON HOW YOU SHOULD NOT START A USELESS FACEBOOK MESSENGER CHAT WITH SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW ☝.
Facebook unequivocally is one of the the best 21st century social media communication and friend zone wonder. Launched in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his four other Harvard Institute roommate's (Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum and Chris Hughes).
And since from then, Facebook has gradually rise to become a world wide community platform for friends, conversion and business with an evolving newly added applications to ease traffic and communication. As the Facebook messenger app was created to help ease conversation and calls.
So notwithstanding, on facebook, you can message anyone so long as you have got an account there. Giving room to people whom you do not know nor that are not on your friend list to ignite a chat or conversation with you. With a million different reasons that one might not be pleased with or deem it useless and unnecessary.
So ANNE MARIE C. BEFOUNE, a freelance translator and blogger outlined some interesting reasons on her Facebook timeline on "how not to start a useless Facebook Messenger chat or conversation with someone you don't know". Hear her 👇👇;
- Hello
- Hello
- Can we talk ?
- Anything particular you want to talk about?
- I want to know more of you.
- (And that is the end of the convo for me.)
👉 When you want to know more of someone, do not tell them "I want to know more of you". What the person gets from that statement is "I don't know what I want so let's find out together" or "I want you to talk endlessly while I read", or "I have nothing to do now and have an hour to spare so I assume you too have nothing to do with your time so come and entertain me" or "I have nothing interesting to tell you so talk to me".
👉 If you want to know more of someone, Google the person, ask around about the person, read the posts of the person on Facebook, read articles posted by the person, read their tweets. Know more of the person by yourself, know as much as possible from what you can get.
👉 Then write down questions you may want to ask, about what the person said or what has been said by a reliable source about the person (not "one of my friends told me..."). Write down their interests, write down what you liked what you disliked, what you think might be useful to you. Write down what you think you can learn from the person.
👉 Then write to the person and start a MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION. Show you know about the person and show you have specific questions to ask. Show a real interest and show the person you respect their time as much as yours. Do not hesitate to ask for a Messenger appointment.
👉 People are not here to entertain you. Movies are there for that. If you don't know me and dont have specific questions to ask me, please don't write. Because the day I will take my time to write you on Messenger first, it will not be to waste your time.
