The Nigerian female basketball team (D'Tigress of Nigeria), coached by American basketball guru SAM VINCENT after backlashing Guinea 106 points to 33 and ousting host nation Mali at the semi finals of the 2017 AfroBasketBall championship Saturday 27 August, gracefully triumphed over the defending champions of Senegal by 68 points to 48, securing their third title win at the AfroBasket championship. The Nigerian basketball male version, are reigning champions, making Nigeria double continental champions in the men and women basketball and football tournaments (OmoNaija) 😇.

The skillful playstyle of Evelyn Akhator with Ezinne Kalu couldn't help out the desperate moves from the Senegalese side who were surrounded by the robusts and taller Nigerian girls as the Senegalese supports cried out.
"The game was very difficult and tactful, the Nigerian girls are very huge and hard you know, the game was more physical on our Senegalese girls..."
Akhtor accounted for 13 points to carry the game from the Senegalese, who headed the first quarter by leading 18 to 12.


The Nigerian 'Tigresses won the second quarter 21 to 10 and raised the lead in the third quarter, which they won 15 to 7 before rounding off play in the fourth quater with a 17 to 13 points.
Emerging them winners of the Mali 2017  Women AfroBasketBall Championship.
They lastly won the competition twelve years back in Mozambique 2003 under the still current coach Sam Vincent.
The Nigerian AfroBasketBall men will be defending their title next month (September 2017) in Tunisia.
